Decomposed body of man found hanging at Otavi

OTJIWARONGO, 23 MAR (NAMPA) - The decomposed body of 37-year-old Vilho Eliakim was found hanging from a tree by a passer-by at Otavi on Thursday.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Friday Eliakim was last seen three weeks ago.
Mbeha said his neighbours in the Blikkiesdorp informal settlement told police they thought he had gone to look for employment on nearby farms or travelled to the Ohangwena Region, where he is originally from.
On Thursday at about 15h00, his lifeless body was found hanging from a tree with a wire around the neck, she said.
His personal documents were found next to his body, but he did not leave a suicide note behind.
His relatives have been informed of his death.
The Otavi Police opened an inquest docket and are investigating the suspected suicide.
