WINDHOEK, 22 MAR (NAMPA) - Brave Warriors top striker Peter Shalulile has been ruled out of the national team’s friendly match against Lesotho on Tuesday due to club commitments.
A media statement issued by the Namibia Football Association on Thursday said South African First Division Club Highlands Park, where Shalulile plies his trade, has requested that the striker be excused from the game as they are on the verge of winning promotion to the Premier Soccer League and he has been key to their promotion.
“We have a good working relationship with Highlands Park and given that we are playing a friendly in which we also want to expose more youngsters, we agreed to their request,” national team assistant manager, Jakes Amaning was quoted as saying in the statement.
He added that Shalulile’s club is also busy with his work permit, meaning his passport is with South Africa’s home affairs ministry.
Shalulile, who has been the goal-getter for the Brave Warriors in recent times, was included in the 25-man squad to host Lesotho in an international friendly match.
Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti on Monday included 12 youth players for the friendly match as they prepare for international youth qualifiers later this year.
Except for Shalulile, all other players will be available and fighting for places.
The team for Tuesday’s match at the Sam Nujoma Stadium is as follows:
Max Mbaeva (Golden Arrows, SA); Calvin Spiegel, Vitapi Ngaruka, Dynamo Fredericks, Natangwe Petrus (Black Africa); Vipua Tjimune, Panduleni Nekundi and Ronald Ketjijere (African Stars); Enzo Mungendje, Romeo Kasume and Itamunua Keimuine (Tura Magic); Hubert Mingeri (Life Fighters); Lubeni Haukongo, Aprocius Petrus and Anthony Kham (Eleven Arrows); Brendon Kotungondo and Absalom Iimbondi and Ferdinand Karongee (Tigers); Donovan Kanjaa (Young African); Deon Hotto (Bloemfontein Celtic, SA); Denzil Haoseb (Jomo Cosmos, SA); Benson Shilongo (Alassiouty SC, Egypt); Riaan Hanamub (Orlando Pirates) and Kennedy Eib (Mighty Gunners).
