REHOBOTH, 20 MAR (NAMPA) – The Hardap Region has appointed a technical team to prepare its under-20 football team for The Namibian Newspaper Cup.
The tournament is slated for Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region from 30 March to 02 April this year.
The technical team was appointed early in February following a decision by the Hardap Region Football Association executive committee.
Speaking to Nampa on Monday, Hardap’s team manager Ivan Pieters said the team selection would be finalised on Wednesday and submitted to the Namibia Football Association head office.
“We have kept most of our players and technical team and this year we aim to win the cup,” Pieters said.
Hardap are drawn in Group A with Oshana, Omusati and host Zambezi.
Hardap's golden years in The Namibian Newspaper Cup came more than a decade ago when they finished as runners-up in 2004 and 2005 and then went one better to win the title in 2006 against fierce rival, ||Kharas.
They finished third overall in 2017 after beating Khomas 1-0.
Hardap is hoping to make a strong impression at this year's tournament.
