MPUNGU, 15 MAR (NAMPA) The Roads Authority (RA) has indicated that plans are at an advanced stage to add a learner license testing office at Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West Region.
Two years ago, the RA opened a NaTIS office here offering services such as registration and licensing of vehicles, application, and issuance of temporary and special permits, deregistration and export of vehicles.
Our long-term objective is to convert this office to a fully-fledged NaTIS One-Stop centre, RA Chief Executive Officer, Conrad Lutombi said during the official handing over of nine boreholes alongside the Tsumeb-Katwitwi road at Mukonda village on Thursday.
Lutombi said the Nkurenkuru Town Council has availed land and that construction of the office will commence as soon as funds are allotted.
The RA, he added, is currently also busy establishing a maintenance district office in Nkurenkuru to bring services closer to the people.
Plans are also underway to construct a weighbridge at Katwitwi as part of our overload control strategy. We have commenced with the process of soliciting land and general planning, he said.
In addition, the RA completed the reseal programme on the Rundu-Mururani road and Rundu-Nkurenkuru-Katwitwi border respectively.
A total of 109 kilometers were resealed to the tune of N.dollars 4.6 million.
The next projects in the Kavango West Region on the RAs priority list, Lutombi said, will commence as soon as funds are made available.
These are the upgrade to gravel standard of the DR 3446 Charlie cutline, including a portion of the DR 3427 from Mbururu to Calikawo road; the DR 3444 Gava-Bravo road, DR 3406 Nkurenkuru-Nepara road and completion of the re-graveling of the DR 3407 Mukambo-Nzinze road.
