WINDHOEK, 14 MAR (NAMPA) – Argentine boxer, Billi Godoy, arrived in Namibia on Monday to face Walter ‘The Executioner’ Kautondokwa in an International Middleweight title fight at Ramatex on 20 March as part of the ‘The Legacy Fight’ Independence boxing bonanza.
Speaking at a media engagement on Wednesday, Godoy said he is happy to be in Namibia and is expecting a very good fight.
“I respect Walter. I know he is a great boxer but I have fought great names in Argentina and all over the world. I expect to win this fight,” Godoy said through an interpreter.
The pugilist called on Namibians to witness the encounter, saying he wants to entertain the local boxing fans.
Godoy said he had only seen Kautondokwa boxing on the video streaming website, YouTube, but said he was not worried as his preparations for the fight have gone well.
“They hid his videos. I only found one video of Walter, but there are several videos of me boxing on the internet. That is not a problem though,” Godoy added.
The visiting boxer said he will use this fight to score himself a better ranking to enable him to fight other boxers in the middleweight division such as Billy Joe Saunders and Canelo Alvarez.
“For me to get that big fight, I have to beat this boy here first. I have no problems fighting in Namibia or anywhere else besides Argentina. There is no difference at all,” he added.
He was however unsure if he will knock Kautondokwa out or go the full 12 rounds, only promising a good fight.
Godoy further offered Kautondokwa a rematch in Argentina as he was quite sure of winning here in Namibia.
