Veterans of Namibia Table Tennis Association (NTTA) have dominated at the season’s opening games for this year held at the Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) play fields over the weekend.

The relatively high percentage of new and very talented young players was one of the highlights of this event, opening competition manager, Heiko Fleidl, has told The Villager.

“Veterans have displayed world class skills at the season opening. It seemed like they waited for the opening competition for a long time and all games that were played has drawn much attention from spectators due to the high class performance of players,” he said.

He added that the relatively low number of overall entries was the only lowlight of the tournament.

Patrick Beggs, aged 16, from the DHPS Windhoek and SKW Table Tennis Club was the Junior Boys Singles and Doubles champion with his partner Fortune Hashoongo.

Hashoongo was runner up in the junior boys’ singles section and the third place was sealed by Ronaldo Schuman from Rehoboth’s Dr. Lemmer High Schools.
