REHOBOTH, 12 MAR (NAMPA) – Khomas Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Football Club won the Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) Debmarine Namibia Cup elimination matches played in Swakopmund over the weekend.
The men in uniform beat rookies Northern Stars from Swakopmund by two goals to nil.
Khomas NamPol defeated last year’s winners, Try Again from Keetmanshoop, by one goal to nil in the semi-final while Northern Stars beat Windhoek-based Ramblers by four goals to three on penalties after they played to a one-all draw.
SSFD Vice-Chairperson Murs Markus told Nampa the games had to be moved from the Vineta Stadium to the Mondesa Sports Stadium because of the schools soccer that was being played at the stadium.
“Although we had to change playing fields, I must say the games went well and were played with very good sportsmanship. I must congratulate the teams for the quality of football they dished out. Congratulations to the winners,” Markus said.
Khomas NamPol will now be in the draw for the last 32 teams in the competition.
So far Real Fighters from ||Kharas Region, Swallows from Khomas and Sorento Bucks from Erongo are through to the next round.
Two second division regional winners will still have to be drawn to play each other as only 13 teams from the second divisions will go through to the last 32.
