WINDHOEK, 07 MAR (NAMPA) – Nearly N.dollars 288 million has been allocated to the Ministry of Sports, Youth and National Service in the 2018/19 National Budget, more than N.dollars 96 million less than last year.
This was revealed when Minister of Finance Calle Schlettwein tabled the N.dollars 65 billion national budget in the National Assembly on Wednesday.
The ministry was allocated N.dollars 288 287 000, which is N.dollars 96 676 000 less than in the 2017/18 budget for the three directorates - sports, youth, and national service.
Activities planned for the 2018/19 financial year include construction of the Eenhana and Outapi sports complexes.
The finance minister said this year’s budget is a fiscal proposition to further consolidate non-core spending and align resources to core national priorities.
“It is a budget which offers policy consistency with the pro-growth, pro-poor policy stance of long duration [and one] anchored on the gains of the necessary but difficult decisions which we have taken since 2016.”
