We want to bring First Division football to the south coast: Klaas Blom

REHOBOTH, 06 MAR (NAMPA) – Defending champions of the ||Kharas Second Division, Mountain Rangers Football Club, are hard at work to prepare for the kick-off of the league this coming weekend.
Mountain Rangers won the Coastal Stream for a record eight times in 2016, and defeated Inland Stream winners Orange Rangers in the regional play-off final.
They however could not make it past the promotion play-offs of the Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) after falling short in the group stages with defeats by Northern Stars and Sport Klub Windhoek.
Speaking to Nampa on Tuesday, Mountain Rangers team manager, Klaas ‘Flowerinho’ Blom said the team is ready to defend the title they won in 2016.
“We have been playing friendlies before the Debmarine elimination matches and now we have an idea of where we can do reinforcements. We have brought in our former player Cassius Khakisi as an interim coach to work with the boys,” Blom remarked.
He said the aim is to win the league and advance to the SSFD and thereby, bring first division football to the south coast for the first time.
“With the current players I think we can do it,” Blom noted.
The ||Kharas Second Division is divided into two streams of 10 teams each, namely the Inland and Coastal streams.
The games will be played at the Lüderitz Sports Stadium this coming weekend.
