Soweto armed robbery suspects in court Wednesday

WINDHOEK, 06 MAR (NAMPA) – The suspects arrested on Monday for an attempted armed robbery at Shoprite U$ave supermarket in Windhoek are expected to make their first court appearance on Wednesday.
Namibian Police Force Chief Inspector, Kauna Shikwambi confirmed on Tuesday that the suspects will appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court at 09h00.
They face charges of attempted armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms and attempted murder among others.
Shikwambi noted that the police are still in search of two suspects who fled the scene.
Three of the seven suspects were apprehended at the scene of the crime in the Soweto residential area, while two others were shot and injured during an exchange of gunfire with the police.
One of the suspects was shot in the leg and while the other suspect, who was shot in the abdomen, died at the Katutura State Hospital later as a result of his injuries.
