Five arrested in attempted robbery in Katutura

The Namibian police on Monday morning intercepted an attempted robbery of U-Save super market in Katutura, Soweto resulting in an exchange of fire in the open.

The seven suspects were ambushed by the police near their target, resulting in the arrested of 5 suspects while the other two fled.

The police spokesperson chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi confirmed the incident saying that there were seven robbers but only five have been arrested.

“The robbers tried to rob U-Save. The police where already informed about the robbers’ plans so the police intercepted when they tried to enter the shop. The robbers shot at the police, resulting in the police also opening fire.”

Shikwambi confirmed that one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries.
