REHOBOTH, 05 MAR (NAMPA) – Real Fighters Football Club and Atlanta Bucks will contest the ||Kharas Second Division’s Debmarine Namibia Cup elimination tournament final in Rosh Pinah on Saturday after their 2-0 victories over Brazilie and Rush Up respectively.
The first semi-final in Keetmanshoop on Sunday saw an evenly contested first half between Real Fighters and Brazilie FC, who cancelled each other out in midfield, with chances being few and far between as the first half ended goalless.
The teams came back reinvigorated in the second half and Real Fighters took the game to Brazilie, dictating matters in the middle of the park.
Fighters scored their first goal against the run of play in the 63rd minute when Leandro Losper scored from outside the box to make the score 1-0.
Both teams showed signs of fatigue in the latter stages of the half, settling for long distance efforts.
Fighters however caught Brazilie FC on the counter and scored their second goal two minutes from normal time through the boot of Johannes Meyer.
Meanwhile, in the second semi-final played in Lüderitz on Sunday, Atlanta Bucks won 4-0 in the Coastal Stream play-offs against Rush Up FC to set up a date with Real Fighters for the regional play-offs to try and qualify for the last 32 of the competition.
The ||Kharas Region’s League Administrator, Colin Motinga said on Monday the games went well since all matches started on time.
“I have to give credit to the teams for their organisation in ensuring the games started on time. We are happy with how things went. Congratulations to both finalists,” Motinga said.
The Debmarine Namibia Cup, the country’s biggest cup competition, kicked off across the country last weekend and will continue with clubs in the first and second divisions battling it out for places in the competition’s Round of 32.
