Man stabs girlfriend to death at Grootfontein

OTJIWARONGO, 05 MAR (NAMPA) - A 34-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening at Grootfontein after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death along Dr Hage Geingob Street there.
The deceased, Magriet Geigus, was stabbed several times in the head, right arm and the back of her left shoulder with a sharp object at about 19h30 on Saturday.
“She died on the spot,” spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha said upon enquiry Monday morning.
Mbeha said Geigus and her boyfriend were walking from town back to their house when the incident occurred.
The two lived together and have two children, aged 3 and 6.
According to Mbeha, the motive for the attack is still unknown.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations into the matter continue.
