Ndeitunga begrudgingly accepts Global Crime Index ... as Namibia leads on countries with more crime

The police top boss Sebastian Ndeitunga has accepted with reservations the latest Numbeo Global Crime Index which has ranked Namibia ninth in the world on countries with more criminal activity.

Namibia and South Africa which ranks 4th in the world on the index are the only two African countries in the top ten list with Nigeria trailing behind at number 14.

The index shows a deterioration of the situation as Namibia was ranked number 21 last year while South Africa stood at number five with Nigeria at number 8, indicating that as the oil country improved on its ratings, Namibia and her neighbor’s situations worsened.

Numbeo is a crowd-sourced global database of reported consumer prices, perceived crime rates, quality of health care, among other statistics and is the world's largest database of user contributed data about cities and countries worldwide.

Ndeitunga however questioned Numbeo’s rankings saying it would be difficult to accept the results fully given that no one approached him at the time of the survey.
