RUNDU, 28 FEB (NAMPA) – The body of a young woman who appeared to have been strangled to death was discovered near the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology’s offices in Rundu on Wednesday.
The young woman, whose identity is still unknown, is alleged to have died from strangulation as there was wire around her neck and hands.
The Namibian Police Force’s (NamPol) Kavango East Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Bonifasius Kanyetu told Nampa at the scene the body was discovered by a passer-by who alerted the police.
A light blue towel was found not far from the body.
“We believe the body could have been dumped last night. It looks like the girl was killed elsewhere and the body was then dumped here,” Kanyetu said.
He said the police will try to determine her age as soon as she is identified.
Kanyetu called on the public to help them to identify the deceased.
The discovery of the young woman’s body comes just three weeks after Cecilia Murotua, 26, was strangled to death by her boyfriend at Rundu.
The 32-year-old Castro Domingo confessed to strangling and killing Murotua before burying her body.
