REHOBOTH, 26 FEB (NAMPA) The Khomas Second Division games played over the weekend sprung a few surprises, with log leaders NUST Football Club (FC) dropping points in the process, getting only one point from a possible six.
The Khomas Second Division log leaders were condemned to their first defeat of the season on Saturday by Kingston United FC, who won the game by a 1-0 score line, and were held to a goalless draw by City Boys FC on Sunday.
Speaking to Nampa on Monday, NUST FC coach, Erwin Haipumbu, said the team had a lot of injuries to key players, with some of them picking up injuries during training last week.
It is back to the drawing board for us now and [we will] start to think about the Debmarine Namibia Cup elimination games this weekend, he said.
Haipumbu said they will still work hard to try win the league.
Our focus is still to win the league. It is hard work for us now, he said.
A total of 49 goals were scored over the two days, with Namib Eagles recording the highest score in the division for the current campaign after they thumped a hapless Java Java FC by 8 goals to 2.
Two matches, one between Afrika Rassap and Impala Chiefs FC on Saturday and another between Namib Colts and Eleven Champions on Sunday, were postponed due to the unavailability of the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
The other games were played at the Namibia Football Association's Technical Centre.
