The University of Namibia’s (Unam), three month temporary tender for catering services to its Eng. Jose Eduardo dos Santos campus in Ongwediva has come under scrutiny as it was not advertised in the local print media before the institution appointed an short-term catering service provider.
The expression of interest looked for applicants to submit a company founding statement, proof of three year catering experience, a proposal on how to provide breakfast and cafeteria services, a proposed menu including prices and certificate of good standing and was due at 12h00 on 23 February 2018.
The Villager browsed through local daily newspapers from 19 February to 23 February, however, none carried the advertisement.
The catering contract was previously held by Omaungu Caterers cc for two years, after which the contract expired in December last year.
The managing member of Omaungu Caterers cc, Ben Haupindi, said the university still owed the company money dating back from last year.
