REHOBOTH, 20 FEB (NAMPA) - The //Kharas Region has appointed a regional technical team to prepare its Under-20 football team ahead of the Namibian Newspaper Cup.
The tournament is slated for Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region from 30 March to 02 April this year.
The technical team was appointed last Wednesday following a decision by the //Kharas Football League Executive Committee Meeting.
Speaking to Nampa on Monday, //Kharas League Chairperson Isak Fredericks explained that his region plans to perform well in the Newspaper Cup with the talent it has identified.
We made sure to go out to all corners of our region to look for potential players and I am very happy with what I have seen so far. With the players at our disposal I believe we can go all the way and I see a bright future for not only our region, but the country as a whole, Fredericks added.
He noted that if all works out as planned, they see no reason why the cup cannot come to the //Kharas Region.
We would really love to have the elusive newspaper cup in our backyard for the first time. Its long overdue and now is as good a time as any to make sure we are not written off, he said.
The final selection of the players for the Newspaper Cup will be done this coming weekend in Keetmanshoop.
The coastal stream will finalise their selection tomorrow in Lüderitz, then we will conclude the final selection of players in Keetmanshoop on Saturday, Fredericks said.
