The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) is bracing itself to begin giving funeral assistance to members within just a day with effect from this year, as part of its service delivery upgrade, the fund’s chief executive officer, David Nuyoma, has said.
Nuyoma was speaking at a recent media engagement event where he outlined programs under way and how the fund will be approaching service delivery in this coming calendar year.
“Come this year, say end of this year, we are in a position to pay, for example, funeral benefits within a day. Come in the morning, later that day, payment is made. That is our aspiration,” he said.
Nuyoma said the fund has geared itself up and will be taking care of blockages in its functions that cause unnecessary delays when serving members.
Its theme for this year is, “Service Delivery”, he said.
