WINDHOEK, 15 FEB (NAMPA) – The new Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Alpheus !Naruseb met his staff at the ministry’s headquarters here on Thursday.
!Naruseb told the staff members he has no intention to reinvent the wheel at the ministry and that innovation and hard work is what is needed.
“I do not intend to change what is working because it already works, but we should rather build on what works to make it more effective,” he said.
He said all staff members should continue the good work Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry (MAWF) staff have been busy with and that he expects total commitment and support from each and every employee to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of the ministry’s programmes.
“Let us work together in unity and solidarity while we continue delivering for our ministry,” he added.
He further reiterated the cost-cutting measures by saying all MAWF staff should adhere to the directive.
“In order to deal with the economic condition we find ourselves in, we need to comply with the cost-cutting measures and it starts with me the minister,” he stressed.
!Naruseb told the staff that the offices of the Minister, Deputy Minister and that of the Permanent Secretary will practice an open door policy.
“These offices will be open at all times and it is the responsibility of all staff to utilise them either for advice, guidance or support.”
!Naruseb added that he will be guided by the national policies such as the National Development Plan 5, the Swapo Party Manifesto and the Harambee Prosperity Plan among others during his tenure.
