TONDORO, 08 FEB (NAMPA) - Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy, Kornelia Shilunga visited the Kavango West Region to assess electricity supply from Canchana village to the Tondoro constituency office on Thursday.
The electrification of the constituency office will cost the ministry N.dollars 2.5 million, Shilunga said.
She said the tender has already been advertised and the ministry is currently busy with the tender evaluation.
It is however not the only electrification project planned for the Kavango West Region for the year. Other projects include the electrification of the Sia community hostel and Mbururu constituency office, which will benefit nearby schools as well.
Other areas that stand to benefit are Naingopo village in the Ncuncuni Constituency, Ndjovi village in the Mankupi Constituency and Kasimba village in the Mpungu Constituency.
All these electrification projects, the deputy minister said, are budgeted at N.dollars 6.4 million.
Shilunga explained that for now, because of financial constraints, the ministry is only focusing on targets under the Harambee Prosperity Plan.
Under this plan, the ministry promised to electrify all schools in the country that are not electrified, she said.
