President Hage Geingob visited the Havana informal settlement last week to check the progress of rehabilitation of sewerage systems whose lack has been identified as the cause of the outbreak of Hepatitis E in December last year.
Sanitation is a very important issue as far as hygiene is concerned and persons living in informal settlements must see to it that they look after toilet facilities which the municipality has provided for, said Geingob speaking to the community.
“You people have moved earlier to these locations which was not serviced land and the municipality tried its level best to set up basic services in these areas and as the community all you had to do was to look after theses facilities and to take care of them. If you had done that we would not have had these issues today,” he said.
