WINDHOEK, 01 FEB (NAMPA) - The Office of the President has confirmed the termination of ministers Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana and Jerry Ekandjo.
A media statement from State House said the two ministers who served as Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration and Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service, respectively have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect.
“By virtue of the power vested in him by Article 32 (6) of the Constitution of the Republic of Namibia, President Dr Hage Geingob has relieved Honourable Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana and Honourable Jerry Ekandjo of their duties as ministers,” said the one paragraph statement.
The dismissal letters were circulating on social media earlier.
Contacted for comment on Thursday, Iivula-Ithana said she had not yet received the letter of her dismal.
“I am at the farm and not aware of the letter circulating,” she said.
Efforts to get comment from Ekandjo proved futile.
