Woman arrested for cannabis possession at Opuwo

WINDHOEK, 28 JAN (NAMPA) – A 27-year-old woman was arrested at Opuwo on Saturday after being found in possession of cannabis.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s crime investigations coordinator for the Kunene Region, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Kanyetu told Nampa on Sunday that the woman was arrested at a bar across the street from the Opuwo Police Station at around 23h30.
The woman allegedly had 36 small parcels of cannabis in her handbag.
Kanyetu said the value of the cannabis is still to be determined.
The deputy commissioner, who said they acted after a tip-off, thanked the public and encouraged them to keep informing NamPol of any suspicious activity.
The woman is expected to appear in the Opuwo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
