WINDHOEK, 24 JAN (NAMPA) – The police are trying to establish whether the fire that killed a couple in their home on a farm near Gobabis last Saturday, was set deliberately.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (Nampol), Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi told Nampa on Wednesday investigations are underway as the fire might have been started by someone who had been trying to cover their tracks.
The 68-year-old Armin Siegfried Riedel and his wife Brunhild Riedel, 66, died in their sleep at around 22h00.
The couple were burnt beyond recognition.
Shikwambi earlier said it was not known what caused the fire, hence the investigation.
She urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the nearest police station.
“Their identity will be protected,” Shikwambi said.
