CASABLANCA, 23 JAN (NAMPA) - The Brave Warriors plan to spoil the moment for host nation Morocco when they meet in the African Nations Championship (Chan) semi-finals on Saturday, team coach Ricardo Mannetti has said.
Speaking to Nampa after Namibia drew one-all against Zambia Monday night in Casablanca, the coach said his boys have matured and will be ready for the host nation.
“Having a packed stadium will be overwhelming for my players and they will enjoy themselves when they meet Morocco on Saturday. We are here to spoil the moment for them,” Mannetti said.
He added that his team has been undermined throughout the competition, which drives them to succeed.
“Most teams, I believe, do not know who Namibia is and we surprise them whenever we meet. We are not here to play bush football, we are here to play organised football then progress to the next round of the competition,” Mannetti said.
Namibia and Zambia both ended the group stage on seven points, but Zambia came out tops in the group on a better goal difference and will now face Group A runners-up Sudan in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
Mannetti added that the Chan tournament has given the Brave Warriors the opportunity to show the world what a good team they are.
“We are now going to set ourselves goals to reach the next round of this competition. We are a good team and I believe the time has come for my players to come into a stadium packed with 45 000 people and do well for their nation,” he said.
