ONGWEDIVA, 21 JAN (NAMP) – The Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) Northern Branch has announced the death of Gabriel Kandjengo, a prominent retired businessman and former Swapo member of the Ongwediva Town Council.
NCCI Chairperson of that branch, Tomas Iindji in a statement issued Friday said Kandjengo passed away on 17 January 2018 at the age of 86 in the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital due to illness.
According to Iindji, Kandjengo was a well-known business personality in far northern Namibia and an active member of the NCCI.
He owned a general mechanics garage at Ongwediva but closed down the business on 20 October last year when he retired.
“He was not only a businessman, but was also one of the biggest farmers in these four northern regions,” said Iindji.
Kuku Kandjengo, one of his daughters, confirmed that her father will be buried at Ongwediva on Saturday.
Kandjengo is survived by his wife Lucia and 19 children.
