Nghidinwa accorded State funeral

WINDHOEK, 17 JAN (NAMPA) - The Government has accorded former Cabinet Minister, Rosalia Nghidinwa a State funeral.
The Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Roselia Penda announced this in a media statement issued Tuesday.
A State funeral means Government arranges the burial and covers all funeral costs.
Nghidinwa died in the Roman Catholic Hospital in Windhoek Sunday night.
She served as Minister of Labour and Social Welfare from 2000 to 2005 and as Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration from 2005 to 2012.
Nghidinwa was appointed Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare in December 2012, a position she held until her retirement in 2015.
She was a nurse by profession and an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia, serving on the church’s governing council from 1991 to 1996.
She was also a member of the Swapo Party since 1974.
Penda said further funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
