Whip the teachers into line - Government told...as anger flares over low pass rate

The mismatch between what government invests in education and the pass rate has roused anger from various sections of society and analysts have called for the government to call teachers to order.

This comes as the education ministry is still coming to terms with the fact that the national pass rate, a measly 39.3%, has fallen short of coming close to the NDP5 target of 40%, albeit by a small margin.

The Villager recently reported that a paltry 8 000 students would be making it to institutions of higher learning while a bulk of students have been left in the cold due to low pass rates.
