Outjo's new mayor sworn in

OUTJO, 12 JAN (NAMPA) – Outjo’s new mayor, Samuel !Oe-Amseb was officially sworn in at a special council meeting attended by community members at the municipality chambers on Thursday.
The position became vacant in December last year when former town mayor, Marius Sheya was appointed Kunene Regional Governor by President Hage Geingob after the death of Angelika Muharukua in October.
!Oe-Amseb joined the local authority council in December 2015 and served the Outjo Municipality as chairperson of the management committee.
He was nominated by his fellow local authority councillor, Sieglinde //Amamus and Outjo Deputy Mayor Heroldt Khairabeb seconded the nomination.
The position of management committee chairperson has now been filled by Pieter Mostert.
Mostert was nominated by councillor Louise Kaizemi and seconded by Karolina Ndjimba.
The special council meeting also witnessed the swearing in of a new local authority councillor, Mwahafa Friedrich Shinime, in the position of ordinary council member to bring the total number of Outjo local authority councillors to seven.
The seven councillors comprise four Swapo-Party members, two United Democratic Front members and one Popular Democratic Movement member.
Magistrate Peingondjabi Shipo swore in the political leadership of the municipality in the presence of Outjo Constituency Regional Councillor, Johannes Antsino and Governor Sheya.
