WINHOEK, 11 JAN (NAMPA) – The Namibia Wildlife Resorts has expressed gratitude to all local tourists who visited and explored their various resorts countrywide during the December holidays.
In a media statement issued on Thursday, NWR Corporate Communications Manager, Mufaro Nesongano stated that although Namibia is facing an economic crisis, the overall occupancy has increased by an average of 10 per cent annually since 2015.
According to Nesongano, the increase in the occupancy is mainly because of popular holiday destinations such Okaukuejo Resort, Dolomite Resort, Sesriem Campsite, Sossus Dune Lodge and Terrace Bay Resort.
“These resorts received about 60 per cent occupancy during the festive season,” Nesongano said.
Managing Director, Zelna Hengari in the same statement added that the previous holiday season saw NWR operating Jakkalsputz, Mile 72 and Mile 108 after other entities had managed them previously.
Hengari said the festive period provided the company with an opportunity to see how they could improve their facilities during the upcoming public holidays.
“We were delighted with the support that we received from the local market and their understanding to some of the teething problems we were faced with,” said Hengari.
