RUNDU, 09 JAN (NAMPA) - The Namibia National Farmers Union (NNFU) is organising a series of information sessions across the north-eastern regions with the purpose of engaging stakeholders to share relevant information pertaining to agricultural development.
The sessions will run from Wednesday to Friday and will take place in the Zambezi, Kavango East and Kavango West regions.
A media statement issued on Tuesday by the Regional Coordinator of the Northern Communal Areas (NCA), Fortunato Makuti, said the meetings will be held in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry as well as the Agricultural Bank of Namibia.
The meeting will also place special emphasis on sustainable agricultural investment through public-private partnerships.
“It is this kind of engagement opportunity that allows for soliciting of input from stakeholders on the way forward regarding these contemporary problems,” Makuti said.
He explained that the engagements provide a forum where stakeholders get feedback and updates on the state of the industry on policies, programmes and projects through presentations on matters of interest and relevance.
The interactions, he said, also raise awareness on the importance of organised agriculture and enhance stakeholder coordination and collaboration in the agricultural sector.
The Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, John Mutorwa is expected to give the keynote address.
