OTJIWARONGO, 27 DEC (NAMPA) - A 21-year-old man at Otjiwarongo on Tuesday was found hanging from the roof of his sleeping room at a family residence in the DRC informal settlement.
The man has been identified as Eliajum Shoopala.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha, told Nampa in an interview on Tuesday that the deceased did not leave behind a suicide note.
Mbeha said the deceased had allegedly threatened to kill himself on Sunday.
At about 10h10 on Tuesday morning, Shoopala allegedly left his friends he was seated with at a family residence and entered his sleeping room made out of the corrugated iron sheets.
“He did not come out of there and later on his friends found him dead, hanging from the roof with a rope around his neck,” said Mbeha.
No foul play is suspected so far and an inquest docket has been opened at the Otjiwarongo Police Station.
His next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
