Oshikoto road crash kills two

ONGWEDIVA, 23 DEC (NAMPA) – Two passengers died instantly in a two-vehicle crash near Oniimbwele village on the Ondangwa-Omuthiya main road in the Oshikoto Region on Friday morning.
Three others have been admitted to the Onandjokwe Hospital in critical condition, Acting Commander of the Namibian Police Force in the region, Deputy Commissioner Petrus Shigwedha confirmed to Nampa on the same day.
He identified the deceased persons as 27-year-old Silas Gustav, a passenger in a Toyota Corolla, and five-year-old Beeline Thandiwe, a passenger in a Nissan pick-up.
The accident happened when the driver of the silver Toyota traveling from Windhoek to Ondangwa overtook another car and in the process collided head-on with the Nissan driving from the opposite direction.
The accident, which happened around 06h00, left both vehicles severely damaged.
According to Shigwedha, the two drivers escaped with slight injuries and were taken to the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital for blood alcohol tests.
The deceased persons’ next of kin are informed, while police investigations into the matter are continuing.
