The Namibian Police has warned the public to take safety precautions on firearms this festive season.

NamPol Deputy Commissioner, Edwin Kanguatjivi said firearm owners could face charges if they do not keep their weapons safe and locked up.

This comes after the NamPol’s report which states that the Khomas region has the highest number of cases for stolen firearms.

Between 2016 and 2017 Namibians opened 52 cases of stolen firearms while between 2015 and 2016, 71 cases were reported.
