OSHAKATI, 08 DEC (NAMPA) – Ohangwena-based Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Warrant Officer, Marks Kashimbode on Wednesday appeared in the magistrate’s court at the Helao Nafidi town’s Ohangwena suburb as a suspect in the production of counterfeit American dollars.
Kashimbode, 53, is attached to the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit in Ohangwena.
He was re-arrested on Tuesday after the same court released him on bail of N.dollars 1 500 earlier that same day on a different charge.
Sergeant Frieda Shikole of the Oshana NamPol’s public relations unit confirmed the arrest and court appearance of Kashimbode in an interview with this agency on Thursday.
“He (Kashimbode) was first arrested on 01 December at Ongha, where he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and was released on bail on Tuesday but then re-arrested on a different charge on the same day,” Shikole stated.
Kashimbode was allegedly found in possession of a counterfeit money production machine at his house in the Ongha settlement.
“His case was postponed to Wednesday, 13 December, for him to acquire a legal representative and formal bail application, because he could not be granted bail when he appeared in the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday,” she explained.
