Road accident claims two lives in Omusati

ONGWEDIVA, 06 DEC (NAMPA) – A driver of a pick-up faces a culpable homicide charge after two passengers died on the scene when he lost control of his vehicle and it overturned in the Omusati Region on Tuesday.
The incident happened at the Outapi Constituency’s Ohama yaShuunda village on the Outapi-Okapalelona border post gravel road at around 16h55.
Confirming the accident to Nampa on Wednesday, Warrant Officer Linekela Shikongo of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Public Relations Unit in the region said the driver lost control of his vehicle on the curve and it overturned.
Shikongo identified the deceased passengers, both from the Omusati Region, as 55-year-old Saara Ndapanda from Onakaadi village and 34-year-old Salatiel Wilbarde Thigenipo from Ombogo village.
The driver and a 22-year-old passenger, Erastus Paulus, sustained moderate injuries and were admitted to the Oshakati State Hospital, where they were transferred to from the Outapi district hospital on the same day of the accident.
Shikongo said the next of kin of the two deceased persons are informed of their deaths and NamPol investigations into the matter are continuing.
