WINDHOEK, 06 DEC (NAMPA) National under 20 football coach, Gerald Gunter, has named 19 players to represent Namibia at the 2017 Confederation of Southern African Football Associations (Cosafa) Under-20 championships finals, which kicked off on Wednesday in Kitwe, Zambia.
In a media release availed to Nampa by the Namibia Football Association (NFA), following a two week training camp in Ghana where 26 players participated, the coach dropped seven players from the team that flew to Zambia on Wednesday morning.
Peter Nampolo, Venovineja Tjikundi, Marciano January, Ronaldo Zaahl, Michael Kamuserandu, Kamaijanda Ndisiro and Javaza Tjihoreko were the players who failed to make it into the traveling trip.
The statement further said that Cosafa revised the fixtures and the Young Warriors will face Angola on Friday, 08 December, 11h30, at the Arthur Davies Stadium.
They will then play their second game against Lesotho on Sunday, 10 December, 12h00 at the Nkana Stadium.
Their final group C game against Zimbabwe will be on Tuesday 12 December at the same venue as their Angola clash, at 15h00.
The championships meanwhile kicked off on Wednesday afternoon with Malawi beating Swaziland by three goals to two in the opening match.
