Two men die in horrific crash at Katima

KATIMA MULILO, 06 DEC (NAMPA) Two men died around 03h00 Wednesday morning when a vehicle they were travelling in left the road and crashed into a house at Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region.
The incident happened on Sam Nujoma Avenue.
Namibian Police Zambezi Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Evans Simasiku, told Nampa it is suspected that the driver and one of his passengers were flung out of the vehicle, before the house garage collapsed on top of them and the vehicle.
Simasiku said the vehicle was racing with another vehicle and the driver of the one involved in the crash was attempting to overtake the other when he lost control and crashed into a wall of the house.
The deceased have been identified as, 29-year-old Aron Liswaniso Lunyazo (driver) and 22-year-old Jacob Mutemwa Mwilima.
Another 29-year-old passenger survived the accident and is reported to be in a serious but stable condition in the Katima Mulilo State Hospital.
The survivor was removed by the police from the wreckage of the vehicle where he was trapped.
The police had to use a front loader to remove the wreckage to allow them access to remove the bodies.
Simasiku warned residents of Katima Mulilo not to use town roads for racing or to drive on public roads under the influence of alcohol.
He promised that the police will intensify their operations at the town and all other roads in the region during the day and at night.
Simasiku further warned parents not to give their vehicles to their children who do not have driving licenses.
