WINDHOEK, 04 DEC (NAMPA) – Orlando Pirates beat Life Fighters by two goals to one in Otjiwarongo as Blue Waters and Eleven Arrows drew one all in the coastal derby on Saturday in the latest action of the Namibia Premier League (NPL).
With most teams out of action due to the Debmarine Cup Final in Gobabis, action for round 13 fixtures of the NPL kicked off on Thursday evening, where Tura Magic shot to the top of the table following their two nil victory over a hapless Tigers.
Following that defeat, Tigers coach Lucky Kakuva immediately tendered his resignation after a string of three defeats within seven days.
“It was a pleasure working for Tigers FC. My hope and desire was to take the team to a greater level. This project did not work for me. Let me take this opportunity to wish Tigers FC and you all the best for the season,” he said in short statement which he availed to the media.
On Friday evening, African Stars had an opportunity to reclaim top position on the log when they played Civics at the Sam Nujoma Stadium but failed to do as they were held to a goalless draw.
The second draw in a week leaves Stars one point adrift of new log leaders, Tura Magic, with both teams having played 11 games.
On Saturday, Chief Santos beat Young Chiefs by one goal to nil in Tsumeb, while UNAM FC and Citizens drew one all.
NPL action continues this week starting on Tuesday where Black Africa will face Young African at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
