WINDHOEK, 26 NOV (NAMPA) – Swapo Party Secretary General (SG) Nangolo Mbumba is satisfied with the atmosphere at the party’s 6th ordinary congress underway here.
Speaking to Nampa on Sunday, Mbumba said it remained cordial and discussions have so far been on a positive note.
“We are comrades, we know each other very well and we are ready to move on,” he said.
Mbumba indicated that the four-day congress will conclude Sunday with discussions on how to train members on the party’s history, policies and programmes, which would then be followed by the election of the party’s leadership.
The existing central committee (CC) will be dissolved Sunday.
“We will now lose our status as committee members and subject ourselves to the elections,” Mbumba said.
He added that the new CC is expected to conform to the “zebra style”, which calls for an equal number of men and women on the central committee.
