RUNDU, 22 NOV (NAMPA) – A 27-year-old man was arrested by the Namibian Police Force on Tuesday over the death of a 29-year-old man at the Sun City informal settlement in Rundu in the Kavango East Region.
Kavango East Regional Crime Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Bonifasius Kanyetu told Nampa on enquiry Wednesday the suspect allegedly assaulted Paulus Kambinda with an unknown object in the early hours of Tuesday after a fight broke out between the two.
Kanyetu said the incident stemmed from an alcohol-fuelled argument that broke out Kambinda’s house, where it was initially quelled by other people who were present.
It is alleged that the fight continued later in the courtyard of the deceased’s house, where the suspect hit the deceased with an unknown object, leaving him there and going home, said Kanyetu.
Kambinda’s body was only discovered the following morning.
His next of kin have been informed.
The suspect was arrested for murder and he was expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
