OTJIWARONGO, 17 NOV (NAMPA) - A 19-year-old bar lady was allegedly raped and robbed of N.dollars 990 by two men in the early hours of Thursday at Otjiwarongo.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Friday the incident occurred inside a bar in the Ombili informal settlement.
“The incident occurred shortly after 00h00 on Thursday morning,” said Mbeha.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the two suspects entered the bar late Wednesday evening and one of them bought a soft drink which they shared. The other man then started playing a jackpot machine.
At about closing time, the two men pretended to exit the bar but walked only halfway, made a U-turn, and pushed the woman with force back inside the bar and demanded money.
Mbeha said they then tied her hands and covered her mouth with a cloth.
She was dragged into one of the rooms inside the bar, where she was allegedly raped by one of the two suspects, while the other one allegedly took N.dollars 990 which was in the shop.
No arrests have been made thus far.
