Pregnant woman raped near Gibeon

WINDHOEK, 10 NOV (NAMPA) – A woman said to be in the last stages of pregnancy was allegedly raped by a 29-year-old man at the settlement of Kries on Friday.
Kries is situated near Gibeon in the Hardap Region.
The spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi told a media briefing here on Sunday the woman is expected to give birth next month.
It is alleged that the suspect initially threatened his victim with a knife before he took her to his dwelling, where he allegedly raped her repeatedly, at around 22h00.
The suspect is then said to have threatened the woman, telling her he would kill her if she tells anyone about the incident.
The alleged rapist been arrested and will appear in court at Mariental on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, a rape was also reported at Okatope village in the Oshikoto Region’s Omuthiya area last week.
A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 17-year-old at the village last Thursday.
The suspect has since been arrested.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
