Windhoek shebeen robbed of N.dollars 5 000

WINDHOEK, 10 NOV (NAMPA) - A shebeen located at Erf 2395 in the vicinity of Cuba Street in the capital was allegedly robbed of over N.dollars 5 000 in cash over the weekend.
The robbery occurred on Saturday when a group of unknown persons allegedly held the bar lady employed at the shebeen in the Okuryangava residential area at gunpoint, before getting away with N.dollars 5 700.
The spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi told a media briefing here on Sunday the armed robbery took place at about 21h00 on Saturday.
No arrests have been made as yet, and the stolen money is yet to be recovered.
Police investigations into the matter are underway.
A similar incident took place at Rundu in the early hours of Sunday when five armed men held a security guard at gunpoint at Rainbow Village and stole N.dollars 2 000 in cash, as well as five mobile phones valued at about N.dollars 7 500.
The incident occurred at around 02h30.
The police have not arrested any suspects in connection with the matter, but police investigations are underway.
In an unrelated incident, the Khomas police reported that a 22-year-old Polytechnic of Namibia student died in an accident on Saturday evening at around 21h00 on the Daan Viljoen road just outside Windhoek.
The police reported that the incident occurred when the Audi she had been travelling in with some of her friends overturned.
The student has been identified as Maria Joseph.
Two other persons who were in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to the Katutura State Hospital for medical attention.
The driver of the Audi sedan, only known as Herman, and another female person, escaped from the accident unhurt.
Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man died at Farm Bullsport near the settlement of Maltahöhe in the Hardap Region on Friday after a 28-year-old man stabbed him to death with a kitchen knife.
The deceased, whose identity cannot be made public at this time as the police are yet to inform his next of kin, died on the spot as a result of the stabbing, which occurred at around 22h00.
It is alleged thar the stabbing incident was sparked by a heated quarrel between the two men earlier in the day.
The suspected killer has been arrested and will appear in the Magistrate's Court at Mariental on Monday morning.
