WINDHOEK, 12 NOV (NAMPA) – A taxi driver sustained slight injuries after his vehicle, which was being towed, drove into the side of a truck on Saturday evening at the junction of Otjomuise Road and Wendy Street in the capital.
The incident happened at about 19h30.
According to the Namibian Police Force Crime Investigation Officer, Johannes Shalukeni at the scene, the towing rope broke and the taxi swerved into the opposite lane. It failed to stop and drove into the side of the truck's trailer to avoid a head-on collision.
“If the ignition of the vehicle, especially the import cars, is not on then it is very difficult to brake it,” said Shalukeni.
He noted that the taxi driver was taken to the Katutura State Hospitality.
The drivers of both the truck and the towing vehicle escaped unharmed.
