Danie Joubert Combined School rewards sport stars

MARIENTAL, 11 NOV (NAMPA) – Romano van Wyk, a Grade 7 learner at the Danie Joubert Combined School in Mariental, scooped the 2017 Sports Star of the Year award at a prize-giving ceremony of that school Thursday evening.
Van Wyk was selected for the Namibian under-13 (U-13) Craven Week team, along with Dian de Beer and Antonio Pieters.
He was also taken up in the Confederation of Southern African Schools Sports Association (Cosassa) Games sevens rugby team.
Van Wyk was the first recipient of the award, which replaced the old Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year awards.
