OTAVI, 06 NOV (NAMPA) – The three people who died Friday after two sedan vehicles they were traveling in collided with a small truck outside Otavi, have been positively identified.
The deceased were identified as Reinhard Cloete, 25; Elise Nanyoyange Haimbangu, age unknown; and the 16-year-old Gino Kelly Uxamb.
The Namibian Police Force’s Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Naukalemo Andreas on Monday told Nampa the deceased were identified by their relatives over the weekend.
The woman and two men died after the cars they were traveling in collided with a construction truck on the Otavi-Tsumeb road around 17h45.
It is alleged that the 50-year-old driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and it collided head-on with the sedans which were driving behind each other from the direction of Otavi.
The truck was driving from Tsumeb and the accident occurred approximately 10 kilometres north of Otavi.
Four other occupants in the vehicles also sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Tsumeb State Hospital.
Police investigations continue.
