Mother and son die in car accident

WINDHOEK, 01 NOV (NAMPA) – A mother and son died in a motor vehicle accident near Tsumeb on Tuesday.
A crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Wednesday said Elizabeth Ugwanga Naango, 40, and Shaanika Boy-Boy Nghintina, 2, died on the spot after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned around 12h00.
The accident occurred 24 kilometres outside Tsumeb.
Four other passengers of the seven-seater vehicle sustained serious injuries.
According to the police, it is alleged that the driver lost control of the vehicle after the left rear tyre burst.
The deceased’s next of kin are informed and police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man was hacked twice on the head and on his left arm by two male suspects approximately 20h10 on Tuesday at Ondili-Nawa village in Ongwediva.
The victim is in hospital in critical condition, the police said.
The victim and the suspects were allegedly involved in an argument before the incident happened.
The suspects are not yet arrested and police investigations are underway.
