Woman dies after assault by boyfriend

WINDHOEK, 30 OCT (NAMPA) – A 34-year-old woman died at the Ovihitua village in the area of Omatjete on Sunday after being assaulted allegedly by her boyfriend.
The daily crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Monday said Magdalena Ganes and her boyfriend had gone out Saturday and consumed alcohol, and on their way back home he allegedly started hitting her and whipping her with the branch of a thorn tree.
She succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Sunday. The couple have one-year-old twins.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
In another incident, a 31-year-old man died after he was stabbed by a 36-year-old suspect at Karibib in the Erongo Region.
The two men argued and allegedly started fighting in front of a shop in Kapapu Street at around 18h45.
The deceased has been identified as Rodney Nowobeb.
The suspect, who was also injured, was arrested. Police investigations in the matter continue.
The police also reported that a 28-year-old woman has been admitted to the Rehoboth State Hospital after she was stabbed nine times allegedly by her boyfriend on Saturday.
The incident occurred at Klein Aub and the suspect is still on the run.
Meanwhile, in Keetmanshoop’s Tseiblaagte residential area a 30-year-old woman was seriously injured after being stabbed near her left ear.
A 30-year-old female suspect was arrested and police are investigating the matter.
